Second post-mortem on Teoh Beng Hock done

PETALING JAYA (Nov 22, 2009):
The second post mortem on the exhumed remains of former political aide Teoh Beng Hock was carried out at the Sg Buloh Hospital today.

The post mortem which commenced at 1pm and ended about 3.30pm was carried out by local pathologists Dr Shahidan Md Noor of the Sg Buloh Hospital, Dr K.Saravanan, Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim both from the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital,Klang and Dr Prashanth Samberker of the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

Two foreign forensics pathologist Professor Peter Vanezis from Britain and Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand from Thailand were observers in the procedure.

Vanezis was brought in by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) while Pornthip by the Selangor government.

Teoh's remains were exhumed on Saturday after the coroner ordered a second post mortem following shocking revelations from the photos of the first autopsy by Pornthip during the inquest.

Teoh's remains are expected to be reburied on Tuesday.

Lawyer and Puchong MP Gobind Singh who is representing Teoh's family, said the findings will be handed over to the coroner and be revealed when the inquest resumes on Dec 9.

Present at at the hospital was Teoh's family and several friends.About a dozen police personnel were on duty in the vicinity of the hospital's forensics department.

Meanwhile, Gobind said Pornthip had told him that she was being trailed by unknown individuals since her arrival here.

He said he had verbally informed the police on this and also arranged for personal bodyguards for the Thai pathologist.

Selangor police chief DCP Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar, when contacted, said if Pornthip felt her safety was under threat, she should lodge a police report and can be assured police will look into it.
